Apply the codeit AI and autocode new verbatims

Once codeit has a codeframe and some example coded data to learn from, the AI can use this historical learning and apply it to autocode new uncoded verbatims.

    codeit’s blend of AI

The AI runs automatically whenever new verbatims are uploaded, or it can be triggered on demand at any time.

The codeit AI comprises of the following autocoding methods:

    1. Machine Learning

Our unique, proprietary system that learns from your historical coded data and intelligently autocodes new verbatims.

    2. Text Matching

Looks for exact duplicates in historical data to assign themes to verbatims.

    3. Text Rules

A powerful and flexible system of user-defined text patterns used to match themes to verbatims.

Key Features

Frequently asked questions

How does the Apply process work?

Once you have coded data in place, you can apply the codeit AI at any time to autocode any uncoded verbatims. codeit learns from your existing coded data and applies that learning to autocode new verbatims.

What methods does codeit use to autocode data?

The Apply process has three methods it can use to autocode data:

  1. Machine Learning learns from your previous coded data and applies a custom model to autocode your data.
  2. Text Matching looks for exact duplicates from the past and autocodes them.
  3. Text Rules allow you to define your own text matching patterns to autocode data based on your own rules and logic.

When should I run Apply to autocode data?

You can run Apply any time you have existing coding or text rules that the codeit AI can apply to autocode new data. For example, on a very large survey you might code a proportion of the data then leverage that coding to autocode the remaining data using Machine Learning. Or, on a tracking study you could autocode a new wave of data based on the learning from previous waves.

Does autocoding happen automatically?

Yes. When you upload new verbatim data, codeit will automatically run the Apply step and autocode that data if there is historical data or text rules it can leaverage. Alternatively, you can manually run the Apply step at any time to autocode your data.

Can the Apply process find new themes?

Yes. When you run the Apply process it can find and suggest new themes or missing themes in your codeframe. Alternatively, if your codeframe is fixed you can request that the AI just uses the codeframe as-is.
